Vista residents now have another safe, traffic-separated way to travel around North County with the opening of a new 1.1-mile section of the Inland Rail Trail between Mar Vista Drive and Civic Center Drive. The new segment connects with existing trail sections to create roughly 12 uninterrupted miles of pathway from the Escondido Transit Center through San Marcos and into Vista, including access to the Civic Center SPRINTER station. The project is part of a larger plan for a 21-mile Inland Rail Trail ultimately connecting Escondido, San Marcos, Vista and Oceanside, expanding both recreational opportunities and car-free transportation across North County.
