Oceanside Shock Bring Pro Hockey Home to North County |
Frontwave Arena hosts a new professional hockey chapter and hometown sports experience |

Professional hockey is skating into Oceanside, giving North County sports fans a brand-new hometown team to rally behind.
The Oceanside Shock are scheduled to play their inaugural home opener at Frontwave Arena on Saturday, Oct. 10, against the Fresno Falcons.
The arrival adds another professional sports option to the growing entertainment lineup at Frontwave Arena, which has quickly become a major gathering place in Oceanside’s El Corazon district.
For local families, the biggest attraction may be having professional hockey close to home instead of making a long drive for a game-night experience.
The Shock are part of the Federal Prospects Hockey League and have multiple home dates scheduled in Oceanside throughout October and November.
That gives fans more than a one-night novelty and creates an opportunity for a genuine local following to grow during the season.
North County’s sports identity is expanding beyond the teams residents traditionally follow from elsewhere in Southern California.
Frontwave already hosts basketball and indoor football, and hockey adds another fast-paced option to the mix.
The opening weekend includes another Shock home game Sunday against Stockton, giving curious fans two chances to see the new team.
Oceanside has spent years building new destinations and experiences around El Corazon, and a hometown hockey team gives the area another reason for residents across Carlsbad, Vista and Oceanside to come together. |

Hope they actually stick around longer than a season. North County has seen a lot of these things come and go. Cool concept though and I want it to work.
Two games opening weekend is smart. Gives people a second chance if Saturday sells out or something comes up. We're going Sunday for sure.
El Corazon has come a long way. I remember when that whole area was just dusty fields. Now there's an arena with pro sports teams. Kind of wild to think about.
The Federal Prospects Hockey League is pretty low level but honestly who cares. Minor league games are way more fun anyway. Cheaper tickets, you can actually see the players up close.
Finally something to do on weekends that isn't a two hour drive to Anaheim or LA. Took the kids to a Sockers game at Frontwave last year and they loved it. Can't wait to try hockey!
